Switched to an em based layout…

Moving away from ‘old faithful’ - the pixel, has been on the cards for a while now. It was probably the realign of SimpleBits and the accompanying blog post that caused the change in thought.

Whilst Dans blog is really impressive technically, I just don’t get why such a wide layout, would need to go wider? By bumping the font size, the user wants larger fonts right? Why make the whole page bigger and have the user scroll sideways to read the content?

I stumbled across the max-width: 100% for imagery and containers and the end result is fantastic. Truly scaleable content that just works. Well, I think so anyway.

I have to say the redesign was quite painless, at least in a playground environment like this. I haven’t had a chance to try the site out across a range of platforms yet but i’m pretty sure it works sweet in IE6 thank goodness. Burp.
